DURING TAKE OFF FROM A PRIVATE GRASS STRIP, THE AIRPLANE STRUCK A FENCE POST. THE PILOT ELECTED TO LAND IN AN ADJACENT FIELD AND HIT A DITCH. THE INVESTIGATION SHOWED THE PILOT DID NOT USE ALL THE TAKE OFF AREA AVAILABLE.
