The pilot reported that while approaching the 3,275-ft-long runway, he configured the airplane with full flaps. He thought that the airplane touched down approximately halfway down the runway, after which he applied braking; however, he was unable to stop the airplane on the paved surface. The airplane departed the runway, traveled through grass, down an embankment, and through an airport perimeter fence before coming to rest upright. The airplane sustained substantial damage to the right wing. A postaccident examination of the accident site by an FAA inspector revealed that the airplane touched down about 557 ft before the departure end of the runway. The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.

Quoted verbatim from the NTSB record.
