The pilot reported that while flying about 100 ft above ground level in the unregistered airplane, he looked at his phone to determine his location during which time the airplane entered an aerodynamic stall and impacted a bean field resulting in substantial damage to the fuselage. The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
Quoted verbatim from the NTSB record.
