On April 15, 2025, about 0800 eastern daylight time, a Dassault/Sud Fan Jet Falcon Series D, N229CK, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Mount Airy, Maryland. The airline transport pilot and commercial copilot were not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 positioning flight. The operator reported that during the descent toward the destination area, the flightcrew heard a loud “bang,” which was followed by a vibration, and they decided to divert to the nearest suitable airport, Eastern WV Regional Airport/Shepard Field, Martinsburg (MRB), West Virginia. The flightcrew did not declare an emergency and subsequently landed at MRB uneventfully. After exiting the airplane, the flightcrew noted that the right engine cowling was separated and a portion of the cowling was wrapped around the right horizontal stabilizer.
