The pilot of a tailwheel-equipped airplane reported that, while landing on a grass runway, he applied the brakes and retracted the flaps and that the airplane subsequently nosed over. The airplane sustained substantial damage to the left wing and vertical stabilizer. The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
