On November 8, 2017, at about 1750 UTC, South African Airlink flight 8103, a British Aerospace BAE-146 RJ85A, registered in South Africa as ZS-ASW, experienced an uncontained release of turbine material from the No. 2 engine, a Honeywell LF507-1F turbofan, during cruise flight. The South African Civil Aviation Authority, Accident and Incident Investigation Division (AAID) is investigating this incident. As the state of manufacture of the engine, the NTSB designated an U.S. accredited representative to assist the AAID with its investigation.
