Read the full NTSB narrative
During an approach to a 2,000-foot private grass airstrip, the pilot reported that he flew the approach "a little high and fast" and slipped the airplane. The pilot further reported that the airplane touched down about mid-field and he applied brakes, but the airplane overran the runway and impacted trees. The airplane sustained substantial damage to the fuselage and both wings. The pilot reported that there were no preimpact mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airframe or engine that would have precluded normal operation.
