On June 12, 2012, about 2140 universal coordinated time, a Cessna 150M, Dominican Republic registration HI-561, was substantially damaged during a forced landing following a propeller tip separation. The foreign certificated pilots received minor injuries. The local instructional flight departed Santiago International Airport (MDST), Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. According to the investigator-in-charge, the airplane was on a routine training flight when the tip of one propeller blade separated from the propeller. During the subsequent forced landing, the airplane sustained substantial damage to the airframe. The propeller was removed from the engine and shipped to the Federal Aviation Administration in Wichita, Kansas, for examination. The investigation is under the direction of the Government of the Dominican Republic.
