ACCORDING TO THE PLT, A SLIGHTLY HIGHER THAN NORMAL APCH SPEED WITH PARTIAL FLAP EXTENSION WAS USED FOR THE APCH DUE TO THE TURBULANCE AND WIND GUSTS TO 25 KTS. AFTER CROSSING THE THRESHOLD AT 20 TO 30 FT AGL THE FLARE RESULTED IN WHAT THE PILOT DESCRIBED AS A LONG FLOAT PRIOR TO LANDING. IMMEDIATELY AFTER TOUCHDOWN, THE PLT FURTHER STATED, A GUST OF WIND FROM THE RIGHT CAUSED THE ACFT TO DRIFT LEFT AND AN ABORTED LANDING WAS INITIATED AS IT BECAME EVIDENT THAT THE LEFT WHEEL WOULD LEAVE THE RWY. THE ACFT CONTINUED ACROSS THE ROUGH TERRAIN COLLAPSING ALL 3 LANDING GEAR BEFORE COMING TO REST. EXAMINATION OF THE RWY REVEALED SKID MARKS WHERE THE ACFT LEFT THE RWY. DENSITY ALT WAS CALCULATED TO BE 7,615 FT.
