DURING FLIGHT OVER THE WATER, THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO GLIDE TO A SAFE LANDING AREA ON SHORE. THE PLANE WAS DITCHED IN THE PACIFIC OCEAN ABOUT 1/4 MILE FROM THE SHORE.
